Can you perform hands-on treatment with Virtual Physiotherapy?

Unfortunately, the magic of wi-fi doesn’t yet extend to hands-on treatment.

There are a number of ways we can advise you on the best self-treatment techniques to perform treatment techniques that would normally be performed by your physiotherapist in clinic such as soft tissue release and joint mobilisations.

Will I need to attend a Physiotherapy Appointment at the clinic?

Much of the work you will need to do to improve your problems will be done at home, with hard work on your part. Committing to an exercise programme and performing it consistently is supported by the research for the majority of conditions.

There are several reasons why we might need to see you in clinic. These include:

  • If you have a complex problem that needs further assessment
  • If your problem isn’t progressing as we would expect with your self-management
  • If you have areas of stiffness or inflammation that are not improving with your Virtual Physiotherapy Treatment Plan
  • If you want to improve your recovery with treatments that we can’t offer with Virtual Physiotherapy

If your problem is improving by following your Virtual Physiotherapy Treatment Plan you may never need to attend the clinic with your problem.

What physiotherapy treatments can you offer with Virtual Physiotherapy?

One of the most effective forms of treatment that is consistently backed up in the literature is exercise therapy.

We can advise you on the best exercises to perform for your condition, and those to avoid.

Our Exercise progression plans can be supported with exercise sheets for you to follow between sessions.

And if you’re not feeling the benefit from your exercises, we’ll adapt them to ensure you get the best outcome possible.

We use Clinical Pilates programmes with many of our patients and offer a range of Pilates solutions for your pain. From 1:1 Pilates sessions to attendance at online classes, you will be supported with the right solution for your condition.

If you require pain relief, we can advise you on a range of pain relieving techniques that can work alongside medication including TENS machines, Pain relief gels, chronic pain relief techniques including pacing and pain modification, soft tissue self-release, self-joint mobilisations and other pain relieving methods.

You may need support for your joints or muscles. We can teach you a range of taping techniques and advise you on the best joint supports to help ease your symptoms.

What treatments will require me to attend a clinic appointment?

Most of the work you can undertake at home to improve your problems will be possible with a Virtual Physiotherapy Appointment.

If you require hands-on treatment from your physiotherapist, they will advise you and get an appointment booked to attend one of our clinics. Treatments we can offer in clinic include:
