I’ve been involved in sport all my life and in 2001 I was part of the England under 21 Hockey team that finished 4th at the Junior World Cup in Tasmania, Australia. I’ve had the pleasure and honour of representing my country across the world, and it’s fuelled my passion for travel and holidays with my family.

But it’s caused me pain as well. On a cold night in January 2004, after watching the Indoor Hockey finals at Crystal Palace, I was involved in a car accident, breaking one of my legs into 8 pieces, my other ankle, several fractures in both feet and knocking my nose off my face. I was in a wheelchair for 4 months, but sport helped me through this tough time, both mentally and physically. I played wheelchair basketball against my brother, used tennis as an aid for my balance training and my big goal of playing hockey again by Christmas was achieved in a Family Boxing Day match in 2004.

I understand the need for supportive and guided care better than most, having gone through the extensive recovery and rehabilitation process. Support from family, work and friends was essential, and returning to National League hockey with Ben Rhydding Hockey Club put the icing on the cake.

I’m now getting on a bit and need regular maintenance with physio myself, but I still enjoy using sport to keep me fit, active and healthy.

Over the years I have developed my understanding of the human body and how it responds to different treatment techniques. I realise the need for blending hands-on treatment with the right exercise programme to achieve the optimum outcome for you as an individual.

So if you want to make a better recovery from a problem you’re struggling to manage, return to sport after an injury or improve your sports performance, I’ll help you achieve your goals.

I also teach Pilates in group sessions or on a 1-to-1 private basis and carry out acupuncture, kinesiotaping, movement screening and sports performance monitoring.
