At C-Physio, we have been using Acupuncture as part of our integrated physiotherapy management of pain, inflammation and injury since 2008. As members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), we are committed to maintaining clinical standards of care and developing our skills to ensure you receive the best treatment possible for your problem.
Our qualified Physiotherapists in Bradford will be able to assess your problem using a combination of traditional and modern techniques enabling us to identify the cause of your problem, as well as treating the effects of it.
Acupuncture has been shown to assist in the reduction of pain and inflammation by stimulating the brain and spinal cord to produce natural pain-relieving chemicals such as endorphins, melatonin and serotonin. They appear to assist the body’s own healing processes to help reduce pain and inflammation and promote effective recovery from injury.
We will often use Acupuncture in addition to exercise and manual therapy techniques (soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisations and massage therapy) to maximise your recovery. However, we can also use it as a stand-alone treatment if that is the best form of treatment for your problem.
Developed by the ancient Chinese Dynasty Emperors, Acupuncture has been practised for over 3000 years. In traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the body is believed to have channels of energy that run through the body and the effective flow of this energy maintains the body’s health and comfort. Ill health is believed to occur with an imbalance in the flow of energy and a disruption in the flow. The energy is called Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) and exists in two different states. Yin is ‘quiet and calm’ energy and Yang is ‘vigorous and exciting’. They are complementary opposites and should both be present in free flowing but balanced states in the healthy body. The use of acupuncture in TCM helps to release and control the Yin and Yang energy states to restore a balanced system, improving and maintaining good health.
As Physiotherapists we are consistently successful in treating pain, reducing inflammation and promoting recovery. As members of the AACP, our physiotherapists at C-Physio are experts at integrating Acupuncture into our Physiotherapy treatment plans for problems like:
